Karen’s Urban Barn Build

Denver homeowner, Karen, woke up last Wednesday with no shed, and five hours later there was an urban barn in her backyard.  

A barn, in the city? It may sound crazy, but Karen was all for it (and her chickens may have had a vote, too).   

Even though she lives in Denver, she’s brought a slice of farm life to the city. Her large back lot accommodates her dog, Lela, and five chickens. You can imagine a half-dozen critters running around her backyard means she needs a secure place to put all her garden tools and backyard gear. She definitely needed more space – and fast, with winter right around the corner.  

Thank goodness for Tuff Shed!  

As Karen started designing her building, she knew an urban barn was the way to go.

“It may be a little out of the ordinary to have a barn in the city, but honestly I thought it was very fitting,” Karen said. “I have a lot of supplies to store, from gardening gear to lawn equipment, and a barn seemed like a functional and stylish choice. I mean, I have chickens in my backyard in Denver, of course I want a barn.” 

The install team rolled up to Karen’s home in the morning and quickly got to work installing her new building.  

“It’s amazing how fast it came together,” Karen said. “It felt like I turned around, and four walls were already up. It was a super cool process to experience first-hand.”  

Karen’s urban barn includes some great customizations to make the most of the space. The workbench, pegboard, and shelving serve to keep everything organized and in its rightful place. She also added a loft, a spot to store seasonal items she only needs to access a few times a year.  

“Tuff Shed was amazing to work with,” Karen said. “The team was kind and efficient. From designing to installing, I felt like they really put my interests first. I can’t believe I have a new shed!” 

Lela can’t either.
